Vivid Studio Insider for January 20, 2006GOSSIP COLUMNISTS HAVE FUN WITH TOMMY AND STEFANI -- Gossip columnists around the world have been having a ball this week with reports that Motley Crue drummer Tommy Lee has started dating Vivid Girl Stefani Morgan. Reporting that Lee has “a new porn-star plaything, the New York Post’s Page Six says he “has been quietly dating the 20-year-old (Stefani), the latest addition to adult industry giant Vivid Video's stable of sexpots. We're told that Lee met Morgan at an Adult Video News Awards after-party at the Venetian in Las Vegas a few weeks ago.” The Post also recalls that “Lee has previously dallied with porn queen (and Vivid Girl) Jenna Jameson as well as countless lesser-known starlets.” The same story has been repeated in newspapers and websites from Latin America to India.
LOT’S OF INTEREST IN VIVID/CLUBJENNA BOWL -- The Vivid/ClubJenna Bowl will kick off the Super Bowl weekend in Detroit on February 3rd, and the party sponsored by Vivid, ClubJenna and AVN has become the hottest pre-game ticket in town. Media around the country have been buzzing about the party. Vivid Girl Savanna Samson, who is one of the hosts of the party, is scheduled to do a radio tour covering more than a dozen markets as well as national programs including Howard Stern's News Channel on Sirius. Plus there are weeklong radio station promos underway across the country in Michigan, and from Connecticut and New York State to Coloradio and Washington State and back to Maryland and Florida. Says the Philadelphia Daily News: “One of the big parties before the Super Bowl will be the Friday night Vivid/ClubJenna bash at Detroit's Zoo Bar. In addition to music, a lingerie show, an open bar, a buffet, professional athletes and a who's-who of porn, the party press release says guests will have the chance "to rub elbows with" Jenna Jameson. That's how talented Jenna is, guys. You only have to rub elbows with her.”
MEDIA FASCINATED BY VIVID’S iPOD STRATEGY-- The media fascination with Vivid’s iPod and mobile phone strategy continues. On January 17th reporter Simon Cheung of the Financial Post (Canada’s main business daily) noted that “Steven Hirsch, CEO of Vivid Entertainment Group in Los Angeles, a major adult movie producer, said the company has made four ‘Vivid mini-movies’ for cell phone use only. He said they use wide-angle lenses to avoid claustrophobic close-ups and adjust the sound quality for cell phone speakers. ‘We've taken all those things into consideration," he said. Mr. Hirsch said Vivid expects to sell iPod movies online a la carte within the next two months.” The reporter added that “Mr. Hirsch said that Vivid has already seen $15-million to $20-million in cell phone content sales in Europe. Five years ago, he said, 95% of the company's income was from video and DVD. Now it's less than 50%. ‘That's as a result of all these new technologies that are out there and growing,’ he said.
