STEVEN'S MELTDOWN IN NEW "DEEPER THROAT" EPISODE - Steven Hirsch has a reputation as one of the most even-tempered and diplomatic gentlemen in the adult industry. So it comes as a big surprise to everyone when he losses his cool in the fifth episode of "Deeper Throat" (to be broadcast on the Showtime cable network on Saturday night, March 14, 11:30 p.m. This is the latest installment in the series that tracks the behind-the-scenes adventures and negotiations that Steven went through with Arrow Productions to obtain the rights to make "Throat," which is loosely based on the original Linda Lovelace classic. In it Steven has a complete meltdown during a confrontation with Robert Interlandi, the Arrow production v.p. who is supposed to be looking after the interests of his boss Ray Pistol while Vivid was shooting "Throat." Interlandi complained loudly in earlier episodes about Paul Thomas' interpretation of the original movie. His annoyances include wrapping PT's car in toilet paper. In the episode that airs Saturday Interlandi continues to be disruptive, even as Steven shows up on the set unannounced. Within a few minutes the Vivid boss explodes and begins screaming at Interlandi. Looking back on the incident Steven says, "In 25 years of producing movies, I've never seen anything like this. He's a V.P. of Production in name only as he hasn't produced anything and we're trying to operate a business, not play games." The Vivid Arrow saga continues in court: Last week Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge David P. Yaffe rejected an argument by Pistol that Arrow would be damaged irreparably if Vivid released its version of the famous film.

VIVID HEADS SOUTH (BY SOUTHWEST) -- Vivid co-chairman Steven Hirsch and two Vivid Girls will be on a panel next week at the renowned South by Southwest (SXSW) Film Conference and Festival in Austin. Steven, Hanna Hilton and Meggan Mallone are scheduled to talk about "Vivid Entertainment -The Sex-Driven Market" on Tuesday March 17th at 2 pm at the Austin Convention Annex (500 E. Cesar Chavez Street). They will also host an afternoon party at SXSW marking Vivid's 25th anniversary on Wednesday, March 18th, at the Pangaea nightclub in Austin (1-5pm, 409 Colorado Street).

The SXSW website promoted the discussion by saying, "We're thrilled to announce that SXSW Film is pushing the boundaries again this year with the confirmation of a panel from Vivid Entertainment, a longtime standard bearer for the impact and success of the adult film industry." Says Steven, "We've admired the growth of SXSW from afar and we're truly delighted that we've been invited to take part in it this year." Now in its 22nd year, "SXSW has grown from a tiny music festival in the Texas capital into a massive, unavoidable media beast that reflects, discusses and showcases trends in culture and media but also often creates them," says The National Post. GENERATION "F" - THE FEARLESS PORN STARS OF TODAY - Vivid Director B. Skow was in the adult industry news this week when he observed that today's new adult film industry actresses are fearless. B. Skow made the comments upon the release of "Brand New Faces 16.," the latest in his Brand New Faces series. Skow, who has interviewed and filmed hundreds of young women who want to enter the adult industry, notes: "This new group isn't burdened with the 'stigma' of being in porn. ," Skow said upon the release of his latest movie, Brand New Faces 16. "They're not just enthusiastic; they're fearless and will try anything. It's kind of breathtaking. They view porn as a career option and appearing in the series as a possible step towards being a Vivid Girl or towards work in mainstream entertainment. If this doesn't work out, they'll have fun anyway and get paid for it. Most of them have read Jenna Jameson's book (How to Make Love Like a Porn Star: A Cautionary Tale), and they've watched the Paris Hilton and Kim Kardashian sex videos. They've seen our Vivid Girls being interviewed on TV, watched our "Deeper Throat" series on Showtime and tell me that all of this has influenced their decision to make an adult movie." Skow has good credentials for his punditry: He has directed 48 adult films, including the Brand New Faces series and movies starring adult superstars such as Vivid Girls Savanna Samson, Sunny Leone and Monique Alexander. AVN called him "the next major adult film director."
