VIVID STUDIO INSIDER FOR AUGUST 28, 2009

VIVID STUDIO INSIDER FOR AUGUST 28, 2009

"TONIGHT" VISITS NEIGHBOR VIVID -- Conan O'Brien and his sidekick Andy Richter stopped by the Vivid Entertainment offices in Los Angeles for a segment that aired Tuesday on The Tonight Show. It was part of an ongoing series in which Conan and crew are meeting their new neighbors in L.A. ? and the Vivid offices are just across Cahuenga Boulevard from the NBC studios. The Tonight Show crew dropped in to visit with founder Steven Hirsch and some of the Vivid Girls. The segment started with O'Brien standing in front of the Vivid Plaza sign, then cut to a Vivid promo from Jenna Jameson saying "at Vivid we know all about great sex." O'Brien met Hirsch in his office, where he was in conversation with Vivid Girls Sunny Leone and Monique Alexander. He then took a tour of the offices accompanied by Vivid Girl Meggan Mallone. His first stop was the conference room where he saw two actresses sitting on a table rehearsing a scene. "'The Iceman Cometh' I presume," O'Brien cracks. As the segment moved along O'Brien walked through the vault where 25 years of Vivid movies are stored and viewers saw him sneak a master tape off of a shelf and hide it under his shirt. The next stop was the editing suite, where he found Richter engrossed in watching a Vivid movie and munching on popcorn. "We're all fans of the show and we were delighted that they wanted to visit with us," said Hirsch. "Everyone involved in producing the segment was fun to work with and we're hoping that they visit again since we're right across the street from the NBC studios."

MEGGAN GIVES ADVICE TO BALLERSTATUS "FELLAS" ? Vivid Girl Meggan Mallone was interviewed by the popular website BallerStatus last week. The interview began: "Every man fantasizes about hooking up with a porn star, but what if you had the chance? What would you do? Would you blow it? Or would you have the game to seal the deal? We linked up with Vivid Girl Meggan Mallone to get some advice for the fellas about how a guy would go about getting to first base with her, and how to hold her attention after getting there." First tip: show that you?re really interested in her as a person, not just a porn star. "It's little things (a guy says) that make me want to talk longer with the person." Plus, keep it light: "I'm a sucker for guys/girls with a good sense of humor, so if you can make me laugh just by the first thing you say to me, you're in." Winning strategies: take her out to a nice dinner, to the beach at Venice or an interesting walk. Then, she says "I'll be thinking about having sex later on! (laughs)." Once the sex happens, keep it fresh: trying "new sexual things with someone you're in a romantic relationship with and you're doing it for the first time with that person, it definitely brings you closer together." As for a venue: "At the top of a Ferris wheel. Wouldn't that be so cool to look out and see all of the beach and Venice while you're f***ing?? Yum!"

HIRSCH CORRECTS AP ERROR -- When the Associated Press last week distributed an erroneous story that falsely reported Vivid?s health safety record, founder Steven Hirsch wasted no time in correcting the record. Hirsch?s statement was as widely distributed as the original AP story. It read: "The Associated Press is one of the most highly regarded news gathering organizations in the world, but on August 20th the news agency failed to check its facts for a story with the headline 'Porn Makers Challenged for not Mandating Condoms' by Shaya Tayefe Mohajer. Her story incorrectly stated that five performers in Vivid films tested positive for HIV in 2004. This erroneous statement was damaging to our company and demonstrates that you can never be too careful in sex and in journalism. The truth is that throughout 2004 Vivid had a mandatory condom policy and every performer was, and is today, tested before he or she acts in one of our productions. None of our performers had or has HIV. We are pleased that AP sent out a correction on Saturday, August 22nd and only wish they had done so immediately after we called the error to their attention rather than waiting more than 24 hours." Hirsch went on to point out that since 2004 performers have acted in several hundred thousand sex scenes shot by adult studios in the San Fernando Valley and there has only been one reported case of HIV. "It is far more dangerous for a person to have sex with someone they meet casually in a bar than it is for people who act in a carefully policed adult film setting. We are confident that we are taking all precautions and the results to date demonstrate that this is the case," he said.

AJ?S NEW YORK APPEARANCE HAS A SECOND LIFE ON STERN ? Vivid Girl AJ Bailey's appearance on The Howard Stern Show ran daily last week on "Howard TV." The segment was promoted as "AJ BAILEY in The Tickle Chair" and featured AJ answering challenging questions from a skeptical Stern, who finally was convinced that she is, indeed, "the smartest girl in porn." The TV version was 27 minutes long and has lots of plugs for her first movie, The AJ Bailey Experiment and Vivid.com. Said one of Stern?s entourage: "The TV version is great. It's very funny, and AJ looks great."
