THEFWOOSH.COM INTERVIEWS AXEL BRAUN – Noting that Batman XXX: A Porn Parody has achieved “an outsize amount of attention due to the unusually high production values and the audacity of how closely it mimics the original source material,” the e-zine Thefwoosh.com has interviewed Axel Braun. Axel tells the popular website communities for action figure collectors and customizers that as a kid his ambition was to be a cartoonist, and while that goal faded, he has remained a “huge comic book fan” who has kept virtually every comic book he ever owned. Axel reveals to reporter Hagop that he’s well into production on his Superman parody and “It’s going great…The guy that I cast in the lead, his name is Chris Johnson, and he’s a skydiving instructor. So you know where this is going. We’re actually going to have a few shots of him jumping off a plane in the costume and get like- you know…a couple of really cool shots that are real.” Axel says he is taking his time with production of his next films, as he did with Batman XXX, because, “until I see that everything is exactly how it’s supposed to be, I’m not satisfied. And Vivid shares my belief too. It needs to be right.” Next up? A parody of Spider-Man®. “I’m going to have Electro as a villain. It’s something that I always wanted and I heard that in the new one they were going to do the Vulture and I went, ‘No! I need Electro!’ So I’m going to use Electro. It’s going to be an original story and I’m rebooting the franchise and putting my spin on it. (laughs).”

HIRSCH TO FILM STUDIO EXECS: PORN WILL LEAD SMART TV ACCEPTANCE -- Steven Hirsch, founder and co-chairman of Vivid, told film and digital media industry executives last week in Banff, Canada, that porn can lead consumer acceptance of the new "Smart TV" era – just as it did with VHS, DVD and VOD. Steven spoke at The Next MEDIA Conference during The Banff World Television Festival in the Canadian Rockies. Hosting a panel on adult entertainment with Scott Coffman, President and CEO of VOD leader AEBN and Darren Roberts, CEO of AVN Media Network, Steven said Vivid is developing new tools to distribute its award-winning adult films, celebrity sex tapes and sex education videos through the web, mobile and VOD, channels that "will be crucial to the future of our company and for the entire adult industry…We believe that we need to offer our consumers a variety of content that cannot be pirated. This means working with TV manufacturers, cable companies, and other key players. The future of the adult industry is at stake and we are determined to make this work. In addition, since we were the first in the industry to create a profitable mobile program we will continue to develop this effort. We've been on top of 3D developments and are fully involved in this technology as a growing number of consumers gain access to 3D at home.” Steven also told the Next MEDIA conference, "Without question, our Vivid-Celeb imprint is a big traffic draw. Celebrity sex works across all platforms and the public's endless fascination with the sex lives of celebrities seems insatiable."

 

A LEGAL LOOK AT BATMAN XXX: A PORN PARODY – The comic industry website ComicVine.com has taken a look at the legal issues surrounding the Axel Braun movie Batman XXX: A Porn Parody distributed by Vivid. The reporter known as Babs said she was curious because,” I mean, it's Batman®. He is iconic.” In her article,

How To Get Away With Making Batman XXX: A Porn Parody, quotes a Vivid spokesperson as saying: “In a long line of case law, courts have routinely held that use of a title, such as the one at issue in Batman XXX: a Porn Parody, to be acceptable as long as the title has artistic relevance to the underlying work and it does not explicitly mislead the consumer as to the source or content of the work.”
