VIVID STUDIO INSIDER FOR FRIDAY APRIL 15, 2011
SCREAM PARODY READY FOR RELEASE --
Scream XXX: A Porn Parody, the latest release from Axel Braun Productions, will be in stores across the country and on vivid.com starting Monday, April 18th. Vivid is the exclusive distributor for Axel Braun Productions titles.
Producer Axel Braun, a die-hard movie buff, selected award-winning director Eli Cross to direct the parody of "Scream," a classic horror movie that was originally released in 1996 and saw its fourth installment hit theaters on April 15th. In Scream XXX a big adult film company is producing a parody of the original Scream when one-by-one the cast and crew are picked off by a slasher with a grudge. Is it Ghostface himself, or someone else taking his place? Says Alex: "We have created a movie-within-a-movie that riffs on the entire porn parody craze in the same way that "Scream" deconstructed horror films. Movie fans will not only love the layers of detail the spoof offers but the sex that fills the script. Eli has put together a clever, sexy movie with hot girls, uproarious fun and plenty of thrills -- an excellent recipe for great entertainment."
The popular website Guy.com had some fun with the Vivid press release on ScreamXXX, with a headline proclaiming: “Back Breaking News: Scream Goes Nude, Goes Deep.” Reporter Andrea Rothe, who was not a big fan of Scream IV, writes that there is an alternative: “But what if Scream smelled like sex instead of poo? You’re in luck, brother. Vivid Entertainment has just announced their release of the porn parody of Scream...You can treat yourself to sex therapy with Axel Braun’s version. We’re talking the ultimate double feature, guys.”

BLIP-TV TO FEATURE SUPERMAN XXX PARODY—An upcoming segment on cable and Internet network Blip TV will include a segment on Superman XXX: A Porn Parody. Michael Uhila is producing the show and says he’ll be wearing a Vivid T-shirt and will use a G-rated clip from Superman XXX as he talks about the show. Blip TV is broadcast in the heart of Silicon Valley -- East Palo Alto, Palo Alto, Stanford University, Atherton, Los Altos and Menlo Park.
Meanwhile, the Germans love Superman XXX. A very positive review of the movie by Thorsten Wilms appeared recently in Happy Weekend Magazine, a popular German publication.

VIVID FIGURES IN APRIL FOOL’S DAY SPOOF – When UCLA student Alexandra Wallace posted a YouTube rant about “Asians in the Library” in March it immediately went viral and became so controversial she dropped out of school. On April 1st L.A. Weekly carried a spoof blog story about Vivid offering her a job, and that story also went viral. As the blog the Spiral Dance noted, “when one performs a Google search of ‘Alexandra Wallace,’ one of the links in the ‘news’ category includes the L.A. Weekly blog post titled ‘Alexandra Wallace Porn: Vivid Entertainment Casts UCLA Racist in…’ The link is no longer functional and one might infer that this is because Wallace has no such contract with Vivid. However, the fact that such speculation should even arise points to the foregrounding of her sexuality in this whole mess.”
VIVID PART OF SMARTER QUESTIONS ANSWER – Steve Parker and Jeff Adelson have an entire website called Asking Smarter Questions that is devoted to providing answers to what they believe are challenging questions on just about any topic. And Vivid was part of a recent answer to a question about the connection of pornography to advertising. In a section on content piracy Parker writes, “Vivid Entertainment and its visionary founder, Steven Hirsch (I’ll refer to him as a younger Richard Branson), was the first to deliver in the DRM area by offering customers one-time downloads (burn to DVD) from a website. Vivid aims to vigorously protect its content and ownership credentials. So, the next time you fall in love with that really cool technology or sexy app that helps you through your day, consider where it spent the night before you.” Asking Smarter Questions is described as “your go-to guide for the latest point-of-view on news, hot trends, insights, statistics and tools regarding data-driven marketing and business intelligence.”
