VIVID STUDIO INSIDER FOR NOVEMBER 11, 2011

VIVID’S GOOGLE TV ANNOUNCEMENT STRIKES A CHORD – There was tremendous media interest this week following the announcement that Vivid Entertainment has launched  Vivid for Google TV, the first TV app designed to make sexually explicit content available through the connected TV platform.  The press release announcing the new service was first picked up by a few tech reporters. It quickly sparked the imaginations of hundreds of reporters and headline writers, from the Los Angeles Times to CNET, from MSNBC to UberGizmo, and from Geek.com to The Hollywood Reporter and many others.  Nearly all of the stories included screen shots from Vivid.com. Reporter Rik Myslewski of The Examiner asked in his headline: “Can 24/7 porn rescue Google TV? 'Cheap Trixxx', 'Feet First', and more – all Vivid, all the time.”    He went on to write: ” Google TV has not exactly set the world on fire, but a time-tested treat that catapulted such technologies as DVD, VHS, and even Super 8 into millions of homes is now available on the sputtering service. You guessed right: porn. And not just any ol' porn, but a 24/7 outpouring of smut from one of the giants in the industry, Vivid Entertainment (NSFW).”   The Wired News headline was:  “Google TV Goes Full-On “Boob Tube” With Porn App Debut.”    The Digital Media Wire asked, “Will Porn Boost Google TV Viewership?”    The CNET headline read: “Porn Channel Shows Google TV is Open, Alright – Wide Open.”  CNET reporter Jay Greene’s story said: “Vivid Entertainment, one of the largest purveyors of adult films, wants a piece of Google TV. The Los Angeles porn studio today launched Vivid for Google TV, a service that lets its subscribers trawl for all sorts of explicit content from Vivid through set-top boxes running Google TV. Vivid hasn't created a specific application for Google TV, but rather optimized a Web site for the service using HTML5. Google declined to discuss the offering beyond emailing a statement that pointed out anyone can create a Google TV-optimized site. Google went on to offer instructions for customers who want to block Web sites they find offensive.

CHYNA’S BUSY WEEK IN NYC – Chyna had a very busy week in New York City. After she and Vivid Girl Allie Haze finished a jam-packed signing and posing weekend at the eXXXotica Expo in New Jersey, Chyna headed for the Big Apple for a series of parties and media appearances to promote her Vivid film, Backdoor to Chyna.  Her week started with a Monday morning appearance on The Howard Stern Show, where she had fun with Howard and the gang and talked about a letter she sent to WWE head Vince McMahon asking if he was “ready to put everything aside” and mend fences (still no reply from Vince).  On Thursday evening she signed autographs and DVDs at a rockin’ party at Rick’s Cabaret, the city’s #1 gentlemen’s club. Her week was capped on Friday when she received the “Mainstream to Porn Crossover Award” Award from Fleshbot.com at a gala party at the famous Highline Ballroom.

STEVEN HIRSCH TO RECEIVE FIRST ‘VISIONARY’ HONOR AT AVN AWARDS – AVN Media Network announced this week that Vivid Entertainment founder and co-chairman Steven Hirsch will receive the first-ever Visionary Award at the 2012 AVN Awards. AVN wrote: “The special award was created to recognize and honor a leader in adult entertainment who has propelled innovation and taken his company—and the business as a whole—to new heights. Hirsch founded Vivid 27 years ago with a partner, and released its first movie in 1984: Ginger, starring the studio’s first contract girl, Ginger Lynn. Since then, the studio has changed not only the way movies were shot but also the way they were marketed, packaged and sold. Hirsch’s and Vivid’s list of “firsts” and innovative business applications for adult is long, but a few of the company’s most “ahead of the curve” accomplishments include the first wave of branded contract girl superstars; creating a new style of box covers; being featured on two reality shows on Showtime; being the first adult company have a billboard on Sunset Boulevard; becoming the first adult production company to own a hardcore cable network bringing XXX content to people’s TVs; the first to hire a mainstream publicist to court press; the force behind moving the celebrity sex tape into the spotlight with Pam & Tommy Lee: Hardcore and Uncensored; one of the first adult companies to produce DVDs; and many more. ‘I’m honored and excited to accept the award, not only for myself, but this is really for the entire team of people who we’ve been fortunate enough to work with for the past 27 years,’ Hirsch told AVN. ‘So I look at this as an award for the company, more than I do for myself personally, though I’m happy to accept it.’”
