POWERHOUSE VIVID ENTERTAINMENT EARNS 97 NOMINATIONS FOR AVN AWARDS AT JANUARY 2012 CEREMONY IN LAS VEGAS

 

LOS ANGELES (December 14, 2011) – Vivid Entertainment and its production/distribution partners have been nominated for 97 of the coveted AVN Awards, due to be handed out at the annual the annual show taking place Saturday, January 21 at The Joint inside the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. In addition, Vivid founder Steven Hirsch will receive special recognition of his own in a new category, the Visionary Award, honoring him for his singular achievement in bringing adult into the mainstream sphere.

 

Vivid Girl Allie Haze has been nominated for Female Performer of the Year. Vivid Girl Capri Anderson (in Runaway), Lily Labeau (in The Incredible Hulk XXX: A Porn Parody) and Savanna Samson (in Savanna Samson is the Masseuse) are all up for Best Actress.

 

Vivid's partner in the parody genre, Axel Braun, has again been nominated as Director of the Year. In its story announcing the award nominations AVN said: "The reigning victor in the (Director of the Year) category, parody king Axel Braun, had arguably an even better year this time around, with his Vivid release Spider-Man XXX: A Porn Parody racking up 16 nominations, the Axel Braun Productions title Elvis XXX: A Porn Parody scoring nine...just to name a few." All Axel Braun Productions movies are distributed by Vivid.

 

Vivid Girl Sunny Leone and her SunLust Pictures have four nominations, including for Best Solo Sex Scene for her work in Lies: Diary of an Escort. SunLust movies are also distributed by Vivid.

 

Vivid director B. Skow is up for Best Director Feature for Runaway (one of five award nominations for the film) and his feature Sweet Pussy is up for Best All-Sex Release. Backdoor to Chyna is up for Best Celebrity Sex Tape, along with four other Vivid-Celeb movies, Brittney Jones Confidential, Erica Lynn is Badd: The XXX Home Movies; Phil Varone's Secret Sex Stash and Tila Tequila Uncorked.

 

Vivid's new SuperXXXHeroes imprint has been nominated for the Best New Line award.

 

Among other nomination highlights:  Allie Haze, Capri Anderson and Sunny Leone are all vying for Crossover Star of the Year; Capri is also up for Best Solo Sex Scene (as is Vivid Girl and marketing partner Sunny) Best Oral Sex Scene; and Vivid itself is in the running again for awards it has won previously for Best Overall Marketing Campaigns and Best Marketing Campaign for an Individual Project as well as Best Packaging, Best Studio Website and Best Subscription Website. Brand New Faces 33 is up for Best Pro-Am Series.
